Counting Down to Christmas

In the last few days before Christmas we fit in lots more festive fun activities with Nana and Papa.  We went downtown and visited the special holiday ice skating rink.  I used to be able to skate, but was definitely a bit shaky.  Luckily I was steady enough to help Grady and Anson who both tried it for the first time!

Grady wanted to skate for a while, so I stayed with him while the other adults took the Littles inside the hotel to see some more of the Festival of the Trees (we had seen a bunch earlier in December as well). Camille found some friends!

Then we walked around for a bit

And headed to a new model train museum that will be opening this year.  They had a special preview with a huge holiday train display.

The next day we made gingerbread from scratch, to use in our gingerbread house!  I have never done it from scratch before, and it turned out great.  It was quite simple to make and very yummy!  Way tastier than those kits.

We made some gingerbread men with the extra dough we did not need for the house

The next day Nana and Papa took the boys to their dress rehearsal for the pageant while Camille and I began baking sugar cookies to decorate on Christmas Eve

She wore the cookie cutters like bracelets!

Se played with the scraps of dough once I was done

And that afternoon the boys and Nana assembled the gingerbread house!  They had all the ideas and she just helped a bit.  It came out amazing!  There was some nibbling on the building supplies as we went along, but they were very good with it all.  It looked so delicious but they decided they could not bear to eat it.

Finished product!

Camille was no help - she is a poser

That night, after dinner, we went to Roper Mountain Lights.  It is a tough place to get good pictures, but the kids had a great time!  We even let them go in their jammies!  It is a huge display of decorations and lights.  You walk through some and then drive through a large area.

Many of the local schools designed these boards for a contest.  They liked this one, which was like a giant seek and find

You can't tell, but that is actually the huge star that sits on the top of the mountain and can be seen all around the city.  We were right next to it.

The next day was Christmas Eve and the kids were so excited!

December 20th, 2013

Camille turned TWO!

She is so tiny and still seems like a baby to me, so it is hard to believe she is two!  But we partied it up for her in a big way!

We started the morning by opening gifts from family.  First she opened gifts from Mama and Dada.

Opening her Bitty Baby

Hugging her

She also opened a new baby stroller from Gaga and Grandpa

Grammy Nancy sent her Duplo blocks, which she has been enjoying a lot!

We headed to the zoo for the morning!

Miss Camille feeding the goats!

We played at the zoo playground

Baby Bob was quite active!

After nap time Nana and Papa arrived!  We visited some and then headed to Heritage Park

We also rode the train, which the kids LOVED!  There were tons of Christmas decorations to see along the whole ride.

After the park we headed to a really fun Mexican restaurant for dinner.  The kids were so good and we had so much fun!  The waiters gave her a tiny pink sombrero to wear!

Anson and Papa!

Then we came home and had cake, which Camille loves!

Then Camille opened a few more gifts!

A new balance bike, which she has already been trying out!

We love you so much Camille!  You are the little girl we didn't realize we needed so badly in our lives!  Your brothers adore you and EVERYone we meet lately seems to tell us how darn cute you are.  You are sweet and funny and full of sunshine.  I love when you "read" us books, dote over your baby dolls, and dress up with purses and fancy shoes.  You are such a beautiful girl!  May this be a joy filled year for you.
